Natural Rattan Living Interior

Concept / Idea

This project celebrates natural materials and tropical warmth, designed for a coastal climate environment in the southern region of the United States.

The concept blends organic textures and handcrafted rattan elements with soft lighting to achieve a space that feels both fresh and calming.

The main idea was to create a comfortable living area that reflects a light, natural aesthetic, using a combination of rattan, wood, and textured plaster surfaces to deliver a warm tropical ambiance.

Objectives

• Create a living space interior that captures the charm of natural craftsmanship.
• Use rattan and wood materials as dominant design elements across furniture, ceiling, and decor.
• Apply a neutral and sunlit color palette, evoking coastal brightness and serenity.
• Integrate stone and wood details within the wash basin area to highlight natural contrast.
• Achieve a visually clean and relaxing environment through minimal but expressive design.

Process

The project was developed using SketchUp for modeling and V-Ray for realistic daylight simulation.

A detailed focus was placed on light diffusion, surface reflectivity, and texture depth to ensure that each material — rattan, oak, and concrete — was rendered with authenticity.

Design development highlights:

• Designing a woven rattan ceiling structure supported by wooden framing for a tactile, handcrafted look.
• Implementing organic pendant lighting with warm tones for balanced illumination.
• Curating natural indoor plants to enhance the biophilic quality of the space.
• Using smooth concrete for the sink area, paired with hidden LED lighting to define subtle architectural depth.
• Refining all renders in Adobe Photoshop for color correction and atmosphere balancing.
