Wind Turbine Visualization – Exterior Design

Concept / Idea
This project was developed as a photorealistic exterior visualization for a large-scale wind turbine installation located in Canada.
The concept focused on achieving geo-accurate siting, true-to-scale turbine modeling, and a realistic environmental integration using both photo-matched composites and full 3D terrain renders.
The design intent was to visually communicate how the turbines would interact with the real landscape — reflecting light, weather, and perspective accurately — to support environmental and engineering presentations.
Objectives
- Create a highly realistic wind farm visualization aligned with the provided coordinates and site plan.
- Integrate turbines precisely on real drone images and in full 3D environments.
- Match industry-standard turbine dimensions (120 m tower height, 75 m blade length).
- Deliver 4K photorealistic renders for presentation and documentation use.
- Maintain environmental authenticity by balancing natural terrain, vegetation, and atmosphere.

Process
Modeled and rendered using SketchUp, Lumion 2023, and finalized in Adobe Photoshop.
Workflow summary:
- Imported and aligned KMZ + GeoReference Site Plan to ensure location accuracy.
- Modeled high-detail turbines referencing the EnVentus Platform for structural realism.
- Created two parallel scene types:
— Photo-match renders integrated on supplied drone images.
— Full-CG aerial landscapes with rivers, forests, and cloud layering.
- Matched camera bearings for Site Entrance (W/SW), Oak Hill (SE), and Trout Brook (NW) viewpoints.
- Refined vegetation fidelity, atmospheric depth, and lighting realism.
- Exported 4K PNG and uncompressed TIFF masters for print and digital use.

Outcome / Key Features
- Geo-accurate siting tied directly to project coordinates.
- True-scale turbine models reflecting real-world EnVentus specifications.
- High-fidelity photo-match composites combining real drone imagery with 3D precision.
- Multiple lighting and blade-angle variations for dynamic visual coverage.
- Optimized exports ready for client presentations, engineering reports, and proposal decks.
Tools
- Modeling: SketchUp
- Rendering: Lumion 2023
- Post-Production: Adobe Photoshop
Visuals
- Aerial hero views showing turbines across realistic Canadian terrain.
- Photo-matched composites from key coordinate perspectives.
- Alternate renders with varied blade orientations and lighting tones.
Project completed in Canada (2024) — a precise exterior visualization uniting engineering data, environmental realism, and photoreal presentation quality.
